What is the Best Crust for Chicken Pot Pie?
There are so many options when it comes to Pot Pie Crust. You can use biscuits, handmade pie crust, a more cornbread type topping. The possibilities are endless. But my personal favorite thing to use for Chicken Pot Pie is store bought pie crust.
I love a good hack or shortcut for a meal, and premade pie crust are such a winner. I use them in so many desserts, like my Old Fashioned Chocolate Rolls. But they can also be used to make savory dishes as well. And best of all, they taste amazing, save you time, and no one will ever know you didn’t make it yourself.
My favorite part of using store bought pie crust is that you save some much time. With all the extra time I save by not making the crust from scratch, I love to make cute little cut outs for the top of my pie. This just makes it so much more special, and so impressive.

Easy Chicken Pot Pie
Easy Classic Chicken Pot Pie is a comfort food that is perfect for any occasion.
- 2 Premade Refrigerated Pie Crusts
- 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
- 1/2 cup Chicken Broth
- 1 cup Mixed Veggies
- 1 1/2 cup Potatoes
- 1 cup Chicken
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Dried Minced Onion
- 1/2 tsp Butter (Optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Lay out one pie crust in the bottom of a pie dish
In medium sauce pan mix soup, broth, veggies, potatoes, chicken and seasoning. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook until heated through. If mixture too thick, add a splash of milk.
Add Mixture to pie dish and top with second pie crust. Make sure to crimp the edges of bottom and top crust together.
You can use a small piece of the top pie crust to make a cut out for the center, and a fork to press around the edges. This is just for looks, but really adds a special touch.
Pop into the oven for 40 minutes or until crust is golden. If you are having trouble getting your crust to brown, rub butter on the top, and place back in oven.
