Chocolate Covered Strawberry Sundae

A Chocolate Covered Strawberry Sundae is the perfect sweet treat. This quick and easy recipe uses fresh strawberries, and is one of my favorite easy ways to make a sweet ice-cream sundae. Keep reading below to find out how I make my Chocolate Covered Strawberry Sundae using Homemade Strawberry Sauce.

What makes Homemade Strawberry Sauce thick?

When berries, apples, and other fruit cook they release pectin, which is a natural thickener. The longer your strawberries cook, the thicker the sauce will get. If your sauce starts to get too thick, you can thin it out with a splash or two of water.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Sundae Ingredients

I am telling you, this is one of the easiest homemade sundaes, and it tastes so amazing. All you need to make the topping is fresh strawberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Then add that over top of your favorite vanilla ice-cream with chocolate chips.

I love to add a slash of citrus in my topping to balance out the sweet strawberries. My favorite to use is lemon juice, but orange also pairs so well with strawberries. Vanilla flavoring is another great addition to strawberry topping.
