Closet Makeover – Part Two

It’s finally time for my Closet Makeover reveal! I have been going back and forth on posting this until I finished my touch up painting, but I have decided I like it that way. ๐Ÿ™‚

Closet Makeover Secret Revealed

If you read Part One of the Closet Makeover saga you will see that I have still not painted the trim around the window. Surprise! It’s no longer my little secret. But honestly, would you have even noticed if I didn’t tell you?

Do Cats belong in Closets?

Ok, now that I have spilled my dirty little secret, let’s get down to business. My main goal with my closet was to have a place to keep my plants in the winter, and so far it’s working out perfectly. Well, except for when one particular cat, who happens to love my closet, gets trapped inside for several hours and wrecks my aloe plant, and the blinds. But other than that the plants are thriving.

Speaking of that one particular cat, Ms. Luci darts in my closet every chance she gets. I have the pictures to prove it (see below). Of course, the forbidden plant room is right where she wants to be, all the time.

Best Part of the Closet Makeover

mirror

I think this mirror is my favorite thing in the Closet Renovation. Honestly, this mirror is probably one of my favorite things in my whole house. My grandparents have a mirror just like it, except much bigger, and I have loved it since I was little.

My mom called me a few months back, and told me her and my grandma found me a paint project. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I was in love. I will absolutely NOT be painting it. Can you believe it was only $5.00 at a yard sale?!?!

Don’t leave me Hangin’

closetmaid kit

Now for closet part of the closet. You know…the hangin’ part. ๐Ÿ™‚ I wanted to go with something inexpensive, since this will not be our forever home, but also something I could customize. I got this closet organizer off Amazon, it is a ClosetMaid Tower Kit. You can change the rods, add drawers, and choose different shelves.

The closet kit came with another rod that I fully intended on using. However, I decided would rather have a chair in the corner instead. I am really happy I left the third rod off. This rod would have been meant for dresses or longer items. I don’t have of ton of long items, so I left them in our hall closet, along with my winter coats.

Functional & Fabulous

I wanted my closet to be a space for me to get ready, and be really functional. A chair for me to sit in and put on my shoes, or read a book, was more important to me than hanging space.

Speaking of functional, I love the idea of using hats as wall art. This cheetah print hat will probably get much more use on my wall than my head, but either way it’s fabulous.

Hats

The last big piece in my Closet Renovation is my desk. This belonged to the previous owner of the farmhouse. Jokingly, I added it in as part of the contract, and to my surprise her children let me keep it. I will forever cherish it.

I hope you enjoy my Closet Makeover as much as I do. Don’t let the unpainted trim bother you too much. I have learned to love the little imperfections, rather than let them drive me crazy. If you want to see more perfectly, imperfect projects then stick around because there are plenty more where this came from!
