Old-Fashioned Stewed Potatoes

I know what you’re thinking, Old-Fashioned Stewed Potatoes…what is that. I love a good stewed potato, they go good with pretty much any meal. But you really don’t hear about people making them anymore.

I think they may be a thing of the past, but I remember my childhood friend’s grandmother making them on Sunday’s after church, and I could never get enough. I am all about keeping those old-fashioned recipes alive, and sometimes adding a little twist on them.

How do you make Stewed Potatoes?

To make these easy potatoes you just peel your potatoes. Then dice them into uniform pieces, and add them into a pot of boiling chicken broth. I know a lot of old timers like to make them in water, but switching out boiling them in water for broth adds so much flavor.

What Other Ingredients Can You add to your Potatoes?

The best ingredients to add to potatoes really depends on your preference.  The best part of these potatoes are you can add any flavors and seasoning you like to tailor them to your meal.

The perfect stewed potatoes have butter, a dash of milk, and salt and pepper. Of course, the chicken broth gives them extra flavor, and you can even add a spoonful of bacon grease if you are feeling frisky.

What is the secret ingredient for Stewed Potatoes?

The most import part of potatoes is the flavor. And all the flavor comes from the broth. You want to make sure you are packing in the most flavor in your broth. To do this, I love to add a cube, or two of chicken bullion.
