Southern Green Beans Recipe

Southern Green Beans are a flavorful side dish that goes so well with any meal. Your whole family will love these Southern Green Beans full of flavor, and you guessed it…bacon. Keep reading below to find out how I make my Southern Green Beans Recipe.

What can I add to Green Beans for flavor?

Green Beans really pair so well with so many different types of flavors. But for my Southern Green Beans the easiest way to add flavor is bacon and onion. These green beans are so easy to make, but man do they pack the flavor.

What spices go well with Green Beans?

You can also add spices to spruce up your green beans. Some spices that go well with green beans are:

  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Lemon Pepper

What kind of beans should you use?

Fresh Green Beans from the garden are always nice, but sometimes they just aren’t available. Canned green beans also work perfectly with this recipe.

In fact, I may prefer canned green beans. For southern style green beans it’s really all about how they are cooked, and less about the bean.

What is the key to making the best Green Beans?

The key to making the best Green Beans is all about cooking them low and slow so they soak up the most flavor. I like to cook pretty much all of the moisture out of my green beans. That is how I know when they are good.
