DIY Painted Vase
I have been gathering thrifted items for a bedroom makeover, and while I was at the thrift store, I found the perfect vase to DIY. Keep reading below to find out how I gave this Painted Vase a DIY Makeover transforming a basic glass vase into beautiful “faux pottery”.
What will you need for Painted Vase?
Now that I have the perfect vase it’s time to gather the materials and get started. You will need a vase (of course), paint, baking soda, and a paint brush.
I wanted a neutral creamy color so I chose to mix the tan and off white colored paint with equal parts baking soda. Don’t judge my dirty paint bottles, I used these on my DIY painted countertops, and I like to get messy. 🙂
Ceramic Vase
This ceramic vase would be a perfect option to paint. I love the shape, and the texture would make for a great gripping base for the paint. It also comes in a large and small size.
Acrylic Paint Set
This paint set is perfect to mix and match colors to create the exact vase color that matches your home decor.
The paint and baking soda mixture will be quite thick, and have a rough texture. The texture is what will turn this cheap white vase into a beautiful “faux pottery” piece.
DIY Vase End Result
The picture above is after one coat, and I coated the whole vase twice. Make sure to let it completely dry in between coats. If you are impatient, like me, and try to start your second coat too soon you will definitely start moving the paint around. So don’t do that, be patient because the end result is worth the wait!
